The Only Sure Thing
There are so many things we want in life, so many pleasures and joys, so many pains that those things can cause. Everything is temporary, everything will pass. Whether it's love, security, a dream, a job, family, or friends, they all can hurt you -- they all can disappear in the blink of an eye. Some are obvious, others are not. All are equally painful when they do.That is what is so awesome about God. He's always there. He's the one thing in life that you can depend on, that you don't need to be scared of losing. He'll never leave you. He'll never hurt you. He'll always be there to listen, to comfort, to pick you up when you fall, to give you hope, to guide you when you're lost and confused, to love you. It's so beautifully simple, and yet so complex when you start to see the depth of it all.
That is why it's so important to keep your eyes on Him. The Lord is a goal that cannot fail you, that is always there and always waiting for you. Even if you stumble and hurt Him, He loves you too much to leave you. You never have to feel alone when you have the love of your life always with you and always ready to do all He can to help. All you need to do is trust Him and come to Him with your heart open.
This is a lesson I recently had my eyes opened to, after years of being hurt from things that I could not control -- things of this world which are only temporary. After all, your relationship with God is all that you can count on when life fades away. Nothing from the world can be brought into the next life except yourself. To love God means that your goal (to be with him) will be your prize. How awesome is that?
It's easy, yet it's hard at the same time. Just remember that whenever you find your eyes set too strongly on something of the world (whatever or whoever it is), God is really the only sure thing. Aim for Him and trust Him that whatever comes in your path while on earth is His blessing to you, whether good or bad. When something hurts you, fall at His feet and give Him your tears.
Remember: Even if the world hurts, it's only temporary. God is eternal.
Hebrews 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
John 15:9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love."
John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”
Matthew 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you"
Blessings and love,
